Your data, plainly explained
Privacy Policy
This policy explains, in plain terms, what honeychat collects, why we collect it and what you can ask us to do about it.
Last updated: 2 September 2026
The Policy in Full
- Who we are. honeychat operates the website at honeychat-ai.com and the companion chat experience offered through it. In this document, honeychat means the operator of that service.
- Scope of this policy. This policy covers information collected through honeychat-ai.com, including pages you visit, forms you submit and conversations you hold with a companion.
- Adults only. honeychat is available exclusively to people aged 18 or over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under that age and will delete such data immediately if it comes to light.
- Account information. When you create an account we collect an email address and a password stored in hashed form. You may optionally add a display name.
- Conversation content. Messages you exchange with a companion are stored so the conversation can continue across sessions. Without this storage there would be no memory between visits.
- Technical information. We record standard technical data such as browser type, device category, approximate region derived from IP address, and pages viewed.
- Cookies. We use cookies to keep you signed in, remember display preferences and measure aggregate traffic. Essential cookies cannot be disabled without breaking sign-in.
- Analytics. Aggregate analytics tell us which pages are read and where people stop. These reports do not contain the content of any conversation.
- Payment data. If you purchase access, payment details are handled by our payment processor. honeychat never receives or stores full card numbers.
- Legal bases. We process data to perform our contract with you, to meet legal obligations, and on the basis of legitimate interests in operating and securing the service.
- Purpose limitation. Data collected for one purpose is not repurposed for an unrelated one without notifying you first.
- No sale of personal data. honeychat does not sell personal information, and does not share it with data brokers or advertising networks for cross-site profiling.
- Service providers. We use a small number of processors for hosting, email delivery and payment. Each is bound by contract to protect your data and may only use it on our instructions.
- International transfers. Data may be processed in countries other than your own. Where that happens we rely on recognised safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
- Retention. Account and conversation data are retained while your account is active. After deletion, backups are purged within thirty days.
- Security measures. We use encryption in transit, encrypted storage at rest, access controls and routine review of administrative permissions.
- Breach notification. If a breach affects your personal data and creates a meaningful risk to you, we will notify you and the relevant authority within the timeframes required by law.
- Right of access. You may request a copy of the personal data honeychat holds about you at any time.
- Right to correction. If information we hold is inaccurate, you may ask us to correct it and we will do so promptly.
- Right to deletion. You may delete your account, which removes your profile and conversation history from active systems.
- Right to portability. Where technically feasible, you may request your data in a common machine-readable format.
- Right to object. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests, and we will stop unless we have compelling grounds that override your rights.
- Marketing communications. Promotional email is optional and every message contains a one-click unsubscribe link. Service messages about your account are not marketing.
- Automated processing. Companion replies are generated automatically. No automated decision with legal or similarly significant effects is made about you.
- Children's content. Any attempt to direct a conversation toward minors is prohibited, terminates the session and may result in a permanent ban.
- Third-party links. Pages on honeychat may link to external sites. Once you leave, the privacy practices of that site apply and ours do not.
- Do Not Track. Browser Do Not Track signals are not standardised. We limit tracking by default rather than relying on that signal.
- Complaints. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you may complain to your local supervisory authority. We would prefer you tell us first.
- Changes to this policy. Material changes are announced on this page with an updated date. Continued use after a change indicates acceptance.
- Contact for privacy matters. Write to privacy@honeychat-ai.com for any request described in this policy. We respond within thirty days.
